CHECK-LIST FOR A VISITOR’S VISA

01	Duly completed and signed Visa Application Form (DHA-84) Form 11
02	A recent photograph
03	Original passport with at least six months validity and have at least two unused visa pages
04	Visa Fee Rs 3,700.00 (non-refundable)
05	Proof of sufficient financial means  a three months bank statement (original signed and stamped)  cash available to the applicant
06	Proof of a valid return or onward ticket or purchase of ticket
07	Documentation outlining the purpose and duration of the visit, or a written invitation by the host(s) in the Republic, as the case may be
08	Where the applicant is attending an activity or event, a letter from the organization under whose control the activity or event is taking place, confirming such attendance and whether or not the  foreigner will be remunerated, and if remunerated, the amount of the remuneration, including a letter from employer or from an organization to which the applicant is associated to.
09	Certified copy of Birth Certificate of child(ren) below 18 years
10	In respect of a dependent child accompanying the applicant or joining the applicant in RSA:  proof of consent from one or both parents, in the form of a letter or affidavit  a letter from the person who is to receive the child in the Republic containing his or her residential address in the Republic where the child will be residing  a copy of the identity document or valid passport and visa or permanent residence permit of the person who is to receive the child in the Republic; and  the contact details of the parents or legal guardian.
11	A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (where applicable)
12	If invited by a host in RSA:  a letter from the host confirming purpose, duration and removal of the applicant  proof of accommodation  if responsible for expenses, three months bank statement certified by the bank  Certified copies of ID or passport and visa (whichever applicable)

Notes: 

• All documents in a foreign language must be translated into English by a sworn translator. 

• Please submit only certified copies of original documents. 

• The Mission may further request additional documents / information where and when necessary. 

Photo Specifications

2 photographs must be provided meeting the below specifications

The photo must:

• be in sharp focus, clear and with good contrasts
• be printed on high quality photo paper with high solution
• be in colour
• be 35 by 45mm (width x height)
• be maximum 6 months old and resemble the applicant
• be taken with the applicant facing the camera directly, against a light background
• show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face must occupy 70–80 % of the picture.
• show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair must not cover the eyes.

Regarding glasses:

Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible.

• the glasses must not be coloured
• the rim must not cover any part of the eyes
• there must be no reflection in the glasses

Regarding head-dress:

Religious head-dresses are allowed, provided that all details of the face are clearly shown.

• chin, forehead and both cheeks must be clearly visible
• shadows on the face due to the head-dress are not allowed

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth for meeting these requirements is available at the visa application centre.

Normal case processing times

The normal processing time is 10 calendar days.

Visa Fees

Please note that applicants will also be charged a service fee of USD 50 per application. As of the 03 March 2019, the Service Fee has to be paid online when scheduling an appointment to submit the application; without pre-payment of the service fee, you will not be able to secure an appointment.
